A goal of the TI:GER® program is to encourage PhD students in Management at Georgia Tech and Economics at Emory University to focus their thesis research on innovation issues. The TI:GER program currently funds three PhD students, two in Management and one in Economics. In addition to working on their dissertation research in the area of innovation, the PhD candidates also serve as teaching assistants and resources for the TI:GER teams. TI:GER teams are encouraged to use these students to bounce ideas off when they encounter commercialization issues in their respective domains of expertise. The idea is that TI:GER teams will have access to individuals with academic expertise in commercialization issues, while at the same time, the PhD students will be provided with the ability to observe and interact with the innovation process first-hand.
