Returning second year Emory School of Law students are selected for the TI:GER® program based on academic excellence and interest in technology or patent law. In TI:GER, students apply technology law in a laboratory setting, leveraging early stage technology developed by PhD candidates in Science and Technology from Georgia Tech. The role of law in technology commercialization is studied from each of three different perspectives – University Technology Transfer, Corporate Innovation and Intrapreneurship, and Venture Creation and Entrepreneurship. For JDs, this program is designed to provide students experience working across disciplines, and developing an understanding of how researchers and business approach typical innovation issues. JDs will develop an appreciation of the issues and typical concerns faced from the perspective of the "client."
Program Benefits
• Students have access to the TI:GER lab where they can hold team
meetings, practice presentations, study and work. This environment
serves as a "hub" for students to gather for comradery, brainstorming
and to create an entrepreneurial culture.
• Opportunities to develop cross-institute and cross-university relationships and business networks as well as practical experience in working cross-culturally between people with deep perspectives and mindsets in business and law.
• Exposure to leading business executives and professionals.
• A competitive advantage in the post-graduate job market.
