This annual workshop is offered by the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Emory University School of Law with generous support from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Participants are faculty interested in developing curricula for interdisciplinary programs in technology innovation.
Research
Stu Graham and Ted Sichelman will present results from the 2008 Berkeley Patent Survey, Entrepreneurial Companies and the Patent System.
Nico Lacetera will present joint work with Riccardo Fini and Scott Shane, Inside or Outside the IP System? Business Creation in Academia.
Pedagogy
Authors of “Technological Innovation: Generating Economic Results", Volume 18 of Advances in the Study of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Economic Growth will conduct sessions on their approach to teaching IP, strategy, and valuation using these chapters. Participants will be provided with the text and teaching notes.
Faculty from the International Max Planck Research School for Competition and Innovation will discuss their multidisciplinary PhD program.

This year’s sessions will focus on novel research at this interface and pedagogical approaches being used at Georgia Tech and other leading universities engaged in research and graduate education of doctoral and masters students in science, engineering, business, and law.
The workshop will begin with dinner on the 16th and will continue until noon on the 18th. Thanks to a generous grant from the Kauffman Foundation we will cover all local expenses of invited participants.
