TI:GER® Team CheckDroid Wins First Place and $20,000 in Georgia Tech Start-Up Competition

CheckDroid’s business plan is based on a technology that aims to help native application developers on the Android platform automatically test their work across a wide array of mobile devices.

CheckDroid, a team that evolved in Georgia Tech's TI:GER® (Technological Innovation: Generating Economic Results) Program, won the first Georgia Tech Start-up Competition!

CheckDroid’s business plan is based on a technology that aims to help native application developers on the Android platform test across all potential mobile devices quickly and cheaply. By automating the process and providing easy-to-use reports to developers, CheckDroid will save developers time and ensure the quality of their application is not influenced by the mobile device used to run it.

CheckDroid team member Shauvik Choudhary has been developing his team's technology during his doctoral studies in computer science at Georgia Tech. Other members of the CheckDroid team include: Chad Lane and Jake Edens, both Georgia Tech MBA students, and David Mashburn, Karan Jhurani, and Tyler Dutton, Emory University law students.

These students all participate in TI:GER, a collaboration between Georgia Tech and Emory Law School that brings together science and engineering PhD, MBA, and law students to work on commercializing innovative technologies.

This was the first Georgia Tech Start-up Competition, replacing the annual business plan competition. The competition featured 16 start-ups from across a wide array of disciplines and focused on the customer discovery process. Strong interview skills of the team allowed CheckDroid to get out of the building and find a great product/market fit for the technology but their team's humor endeared them to the audience and the judges.
